OPENING
Thunderbolt welcomes everyone to tonight’s edition of Wrestling Night in the Heartland from the CEFCU Arena in Normal, Illinois.

ST. LOUIS SUPERSHOW POST-MORDEM
Thunderbolt recaps what happened:
-Jennifer Colton’s MVW debut and subsequent win over C.J. Lewis
-Women’s Tag Team Champions Jill Berg Enterprises surviving a 42 minute war with the Hanson Sisters
-Men’s Tag Team Champions The Stevens Dynasty denying The Kardoucheian Empire the title again.
-Daryn Thompson’s stunning win over Women’s Champion Victoria McGill to win the title.
-Men’s Champion ‘Redneck’’ Bill Dickinson’s win in a hard-hitting match against John O’Reilly

‘LONG HAUL’ RICK HALL’S COMMENTS:
-He’s very impressed with Jennifer Colton.
-Kudos to both JBE and the Hanson Sisters for one hell of a match.
-Kudos to both the Stevens Dynasty and the Kardoucheians for an outstanding match.  Kardoucheians have nothing to be ashamed of.
-He’s also very impressed with Daryn Thompson.  Hall doesn’t know what’s gotten into Tori McGill of late but that’s two tough losses for her in 2023 already.
-Dickinson and O’Reilly threw everything at each other for just under seven minutes.  Dickinson wins for the third consecutive time over O’Reilly to retain the Men’s title.

TONIGHT
Thunderbolt says it’s a big night and turns it over to Rick Hall to preview tonight’s matches.

WINNER-#5 MEN’S TAG TEAM DIVISION: #5 The Shamrocks (Tom Flynn and Sean O’Grady) vs. Beer Bellied Softball Playin’ Ninja (Tiny and Hank)

HALL’S COMMENTS:
-Long time MVW veterans the Beer Bellied Softball Playin’ Ninja versus the newcomers from sVo The Shamrocks.
-The Shamrocks made it into the Men’s Tag Team Division but in their first match and find themselves on the trap door again.
-The BBSPN have been here before.  They know what they need to do.  We’ll see if they can earn promotion back into the Men’s Tag Team Division.

WINNER-#4 MEN’S DIVISION: #4 Kenichiro Yamamoto vs. Men’s Heartland Champion Bracken Krueger

HALL’S COMMENTS:
-This is the one he wants to see.
-Men’s Heartland Champion Bracken Krueger demanded a match to move up into the Men’s Division.  If he wins tonight, Krueger automatically vacates the Heartland title and is promoted into the Men’s Division.
-Kenichiro Yamamoto has done pretty well in his short time in MVW having moved through the Heartland Division and winning promotion to the Men’s Division.  Can he stop the freight train that’s coming his way tonight?  We’ll see.

#2 vs. #3 MATCH-WOMEN’S DIVISION: “The roughest, toughest, rootinest, shootinest cowgirl who ever crossed the Rio Grande” Yosemite Samantha vs. ‘The Shadow Warrior’ Shizuko Yamazaki

HALL’S COMMENTS:
-This is the other one he wants to se.
-Yosemite Samantha’s MVW career rose from the ashes when she charged up from the Women’s Heartland Division to the Women’s Division and challenged Victoria McGill for the Women’s Title.
-This time last year, Shizuko Yamazaki was the Women’s Champion having dethroned Lisa Barbosa-Stevens at the St. Louis Supershow.  Now, she’s trying to get in position to challenge for the title again.  A win tonight earns her a #1 contender’s match against the woman who knocked her off the top of the MVW Women’s Division- Victoria McGill

ALSO ON TONIGHT’S SHOW
Thunderbolt runs down who else will be on the show tonight:
-Men’s Champion ‘Redneck’ Bill Dickinson
-New Women’s Champion Daryn Thompson
-Men’s Tag Team Champions The Stevens Dynasty (Bo and George Stevens)
-Women’s Tag Team Champions Jill Berg Enterprises (‘Canadian Cyborg’ Sheline Carrigan and Prisoner #034291)
AND

Martin calls for the bell and this match is underway.

Hank and O’Grady to start.  Hank comes out and tries to set a quick pace.  O’Grady tries to turn this into a brawl.  Lock up.  Hank gains the edge – O’Grady reverses – Hank reverses back and hits an arm drag.  O’Grady bounces back up – Hank hits another one – O’Grady bounces up – Hank hits a third arm drag takedown and locks in an armbar.  Hank jumps up on the top rope- flying elbow.  Hank rolls him up… 1… 2.. kickout by O’Grady.  Hank tags out to Tiny and the BBSPN whip O’Grady into the ropes… double back elbow.  Bodyslam to O’Grady by Tiny who works at a much slower pace than Hank.  April O’Neale claps her hands as Tiny hits a leg drop.  Tiny hooks the leg… 1… 2… shoulder up by O’Grady.  Tag to Hank now.  The BBSPN double whip O’Grady to the ropes for a double shoulder tackle – double elbow drop.  Hank covers… 1… 2… kick out by O’Grady who needs to tag out.  Hank drags O’Grady up – LOW BLOW TO HANK. O’Neal screams at referee Ron Martin – O’Grady scrambles to the corner and tags in Flynn.  Flynn with a right hand.  He kicks Hank – throws right hands – body slams Hank to the mat.  Flynn mocks April O’Neale and then ROCKS Hank with another right hand – Hank chops back and throws a couple of forearms.  Flynn headlocks – Hank slips out.  The action speeds up and Hank runs the ropes – hurdles over Flynn – stops – hits Flynn with a Lungblower.  Roll up… 1… 2… kick out by Flynn.  Hank with another arm drag taken down and stomps the arm.  He tags Tiny back in – the BBSPN whips Flynn to the ropes – double team back drop.  Tiny stomps a mudhole on Flynn – KICK TO THE BALLS. O’Neale again protests to Ron Martin.  Tiny’s bent over – Flynn desperately gets to his corner and tags O’Grady back in.  O’Grady with rights and lefts.  He tries to take Tiny down but he finds it nearly impossible.  Tiny picks O’Grady up and deposits him forcefully to the mat.  O’Grady ducks a wild right hand and hits the ropes – Lariat… does nothing to Tiny.  Stan Hansen would NOT approve. Tag to Tom Flynn. Flynn jumps on Tiny’s back – SLEEPER HOLD!  Here comes Hank – here comes O’Grady who hits a massive backbreaker on Hank.  O’NEALE JUMPS ON O’GRADY’S BACK.  Bad move.  O’Grady dumps her on the mat with a body slam.  CHAOS!  Martin finally clears the ring of the non-legal wrestlers as Tiny tries to fight out.  He slams Flynn into the corner turnbuckle once… twice… three times does the trick.  He stumbles back to his corner and tags in Hank.  Hank hits a backheel kick to Flynn.  Hank goes up top… FLYING SPLASH!  Hank covers… 1 …2.. NO!  Flynn survives.  Hank unleashes a series of martial arts moves –  Flynn blocks – he pulls Hank into a fireman’s carry – Hank elbows free.  He runs the ropes – Flynn drops to the mat – Hank spins – Flynn ducks the discus punch.  He hits a drop toehold move and takes Hank down.  Hank jumps up and spins again – *SMACK* ROLLING ELBOW BY FLYNN. Hank wobbles.  DDT by Flynn.  Cover… 1… 2… NO!  Hank JUST kicks out. Flynn elbows Hank in the face –  Full Nelson Slam takes Hank to the ground by Flynn. Here it comes – Irish Rose… BOOM.  Roll up, forget about it. 1… 2… THREE!

WINNER: The Shamrocks @ 8:35

HALL’S COMMENTS:
-Very competitive match- both teams fought hard for the spot in the Men’s Tag Team Division.
-The Shamrocks ground down the Beer Bellied Softball Playin’ Ninja with their brawling tactics and Flynn hit his new finisher the Irish Rose to put the BBSPN away.
-The Shamrocks maintain their #5 contender ranking in the Men’s Tag Team Division.

REPLAY- WOMEN’S TITLE MATCH: Victoria McGill © vs. Daryn Thompson
-…Tori’s still dazed, Thompson takes a headlock position using her near arm and grabs Tori’s near wrist… bends the arm up…  and then maneuvers her other arm through the “hole” created by McGill’s bent wrist, locks her hand upon her wrist and puts Tori into the Legacy Lock
-Tori frantically tries to get loose… she starts to fade…
-Referee Corrina Romanov calls for the bell.

Thunderbolt sends it backstage to Kellie Burkowski.

DARYN THOMPSON INTERVIEW
Kellie has the new Women’s Champion with her.

Daryn Thompson
Daryn Thompson

-Daryn tells her that after her first match with Tori at the Carmondy Cup, she knew she just needed to change her strategy a little.
-When asked if she envisioned the match being as easy as it appeared, Daryn says it was not easy.  Tori hits hard.  Tori’s very technically sound.  She was able to take advantage of an opening and took it.
-Daryn knows the division is stacked.  She has respect for McGill, Shizuko Yamazaki, and Yosemite Samantha.  She knows she’ll have to keep her guard up and not take anything for granted.

Back from break… once again, Thunderbolt sends it to Kellie Burkowski in the ring with the new HOTv Tag Team Champions The Alabama Gang…

ALABAMA GANG INTERVIEW
Kellie has R.G. Jenkins, Mark Hendry, and Sunny O’Callahan in the ring with her.

R.G. JenkinsMark HendrySunny O'Callahan
R.G. Jenkins, Mark Hendry, and Sunny O’Callahan
-R.G. tells her it’s sunk in what he and Mark did in winning the titles at the PWA-01 show.  He wasn’t down with the idea of challenging Jace Parker Davidson and Scott Stevens at first but he admits he was wrong.
-R.G. says they will enjoy the title run for as long as it goes.
-Sunny tells Kellie the Alabama Gang’s first title defense will take place at an upcoming sVo show- opponent to be determined.
-R.G. says they haven’t forgotten about their upcoming match against the Stevens Dynasty for the MVW Men’s Tag Team Title. The Stevens Dynasty are definitely on their radar-

Scott Stevens appears out of nowhere – *BAM* – Steel folding chair shot to the back of Jenkins’s head.

Scott Stevens- MVW PixBo StevensGeorge StevensCary Stevens
Scott Stevens, Bo Stevens, George Stevens, and Cary Stevens

Kellie yelps and gets out of the way.  Bo Stevens levels Sunny with a clothesline – the bottle of Southern Comfort smashes on the floor.  George Stevens grabs Mark Hendry by the throat… lifts… and SLAMS him to the floor. Scott Stevens lays in a few stomps – he picks Jenkins back up – boot to the gut – spin – drop – TOXIC SLAM!

George slams Hendry to the floor with a Texas-Sized Slam.  Bo, Scott, and Cary stomp away at Jenkins on the floor until MVW security runs down.

HALL’S COMMENTS:
-The Stevens Dynasty and The Alabama Gang have been on a collision course since Jenkins and Hendry’s arrival.
-They’ve met once before- in November.  The champions prevailed then but The Alabama Gang have improved a lot since then.
-Next week, they will meet again in Normal, Illinois for the Men’s Tag Team title.

‘REDNECK’ BILL DICKINSON PROMO
Taped Saturday from MVW’s house show in Angola, Indiana.

Bill Dickinson
Bill Dickinson
-Dickinson gives John O’Reilly respect for stepping in the ring against him three times in a row and fighting him with everything he had.
-Now, he defends the title next week in Normal against Captain Jack. Doesn’t care.  Doesn’t matter who steps in the ring with him. once that ol’ bell goes off, we’re going to dance and Captain Jack will find out the reason why the 330 Pound Southern Brawler holds this…

Dickinson holds up the Men’s title belt.

‘Redneck’ Bill Dickinson: …’cause I ain’t done being the Men’s champ yet.

THE KARDOUCHEIAN EMPIRE PROMO
Inside the Kardoucheian’s special Hollywood-style dressing trailer that’s parked outside the arena, Khris Kardoucheian- flanked by sons Koley and Kourtney Kardoucheian- addresses the Kardoucheian’s latest set back at the St. Louis Supershow.

Kris KardoucheianKoley KardoucheianKourtney Kardoucheian
Khris, Koley, and Kourtney Kardoucheian

-Khris complains again about the treatment of his sons.  He thought it was clear that the Stevens Dynasty would drop the Men’s Tag Team title belts and put his sons over as the best in the Men’s Tag Team division.
-He also demands… again… that his sons all be treated as the Hollywood reality show superstars they are.  The Stevens don’t have a reality show loved by millions of people.  The Kardoucheians exude star power- The Stevens Dynasty does not.
-Khris gives Ray McAvay one week to fix the problem.

Thunderbolt points out that the Kardoucheians are supposed to take on Surf Express Bro next Tuesday in Normal, Illinois in a #2 versus #3 match.

Hall says they better not disregard Surf Express Bro.  They’ve wrestled in PRIME.  They’ve wrestled at other big companies and they can beat the Kardoucheians.

Time for match #2.

MATCH #2-WINNER-#4 MEN’S DIVISION: #4 Kenichiro Yamamoto vs. Men’s Heartland Champion Bracken Krueger

“Kicking and Screaming” by Blues Saracino plays over the PA system and out walks the current Men’s Heartland Champion Bracken Krueger.  His No Quarter tag team partner and Women’s Champion Daryn Thompson accompanies him.

Krueger stops for a quick pose on the stage and then starts down the ramp with Thompson to the ring.

Then…

“Rising Fire”- Firewind comes on next.

Kenichiro Yamamoto comes out on stage.

Yamamoto also does a quick pose and quickly makes his way down to the ring.

Heather Cooper is waiting inside the ring. Once both men are settled, she commences with the introduction of both wrestlers.

HALL’S COMMENTS:
-Big match.  A win by Bracken Krueger promotes him into the Men’s Division and relegates Yamamoto back to the Heartland Division.
-If Krueger wins, he will automatically vacate the Men’s Heartland Title and a new champion will be determined next weekend.

Keels calls for the bell and the match is underway.

Yamamoto tries to use his quickness to stay away from Krueger.  Krueger tries to cut the ring off and engage with his opponent.  Yamamato jumps to the top rope – Missile Dropkick.  Krueger shrugs it off – grabs Yamamoto and SLAMS him to the mat.  Krueger then lights up Yamamoto’s chest with a barrage of chops.  Yamamoto covers up.  Krueger whips him to the ropes –  JUMPING FRONT HIGH KICK.  Krueger covers… 1… 2… Yamamoto kicks out.  Krueger lifts Yamamoto – HIGH ANGLE BODY SLAM.  He covers again… 1… 2… No.  Kick out again by Yamamoto.  FULL NELSON FACEBUSTER by Krueger.  He hooks the leg… 1… 2… NO! Yamamoto gets a shoulder up.  Krueger takes his time to set up his next move.  Yamamoto takes the opportunity to roll out of the ring and rethink his strategy.

WINNER: Bracken Krueger @ 5:21

Daryn Thompson hops into the ring and raises Krueger’s arm up.

HALL’S COMMENTS:
-Bracken Krueger has earned promotion to the Men’s Division.  Yamamoto will now drop into the Men’s Heartland Division.
-The Men’s Heartland title has now been vacated
-Kenichiro Yamamoto will now face Scott Stevens and Buckshot Henderson in a three-way match to determine the new Men’s Heartland Champion.

Cut to backstage.

YOSEMITE SAMANTHA INTERVIEW
Kellie Burkowski brings the current #2 ranked contender in the Women’s Division before her big match tonight against Shizuko Yamazaki.
-When asked about the injury that took her out of action for several months, Yosemite Samantha simply says ‘it’s healed.’
-Samantha still feels she’s the outsider… the one that the MVW bigwigs don’t want to get near the title. She’s pissed that Daryn Thompson ‘jumped the line’ and Yosemite Samantha didn’t get her rematch with Victoria McGill.
-When reminded that one win will get her a title shot, Yosemite Samantha goes off even more.  She’s clearly psyching herself up to be as mad as possible before she takes on Yamazaki.

JILL BERG ENTERPRISES SEGMENT
Standing on stage is CEO Jill Berg with the rest of Jill Berg Enterprises: ‘Canadian Cyborg’ Sheline Carrigan, Prisoner #034291, ‘Extreme Pizza Delivery Girl’ Tessa Martin, and Lisa Barbosa-Stevens.

Jill BergSheline CarriganPrisoner #034291Tessa MartinLisa Barbosa-Stevens
Jill Berg, Sheline Carrigan, Prisoner #034291, Tessa Martin, Lisa Barbosa-Stevens

-The CEO plays a video from the St. Louis Supershow of JBE- everyone’s there except Barbosa-Stevens.  She demands to know where Lisa was and why she wasn’t there.  Lisa shrugs and responds she wasn’t asked to be there.
-Berg says tonight it’s time for a ‘performance review’ for Barbosa-Stevens.  Barbosa-Stevens doesn’t look all that surprised.  Jill says she brought her in for one reason and one reason alone- to take the gold away from the turncoat Victoria McGill.  Lisa couldn’t get the job done.
-When asked if she has anything to say for herself, Lisa shakes her head no.
-Berg says she gave Barbosa-Stevens multiple chances to make it right. She didn’t. So, since Jill Berg Enterprises means business, she feels it’s time to take decisive action-
-Suddenly, Women’s Champion Daryn Thompson shoots out from the back and levels Barbosa-Stevens.
-Berg adds she had to ‘splash the cash’ to get Thompson to align with JBE, but she feels the Women’s Champion is worth the money.  Sometimes, you have to make big acquisitions in order to grow.  Adding Thompson to JBE gives them control of the big Women’s title belts.
-Tessa Martin adds that she will soon be the Women’s Heartland Champion again.
-Thompson slaps the Legacy Lock (Anaconda Vice) on Barbosa-Stevens and squeezes it tight.
-Jill announces now that since Barbosa-Stevens is now surplus to requirements, her services are no longer required.
-Jill gets in Barbosa-Stevens’s face and fires her from JBE.
-Then she signals to the others that it’s time to leave.  Thompson drops the hold and leaves Barbosa-Stevens lying face down on the mat.  Carrigan, Prisoner #034291, and Martin follow Jill up the ramp towards the back.

HALL’S COMMENTS:
-Nothing that just happened here is a surprise. Lisa’s been on the outs with JBE for quite a while now.
-Securing Thompson’s services in JBE is a big thing.  Thompson has been nothing but sensational since she debuted in MVW last October.
-The big question is- what does Lisa Barbosa-Stevens do now?  She’s slipped down the rankings and

SHIZUKO YAMAZAKI SEGMENT
Shizuko Yamazaki is in her dressing room with the lights dimmed down.

The camera slowly pans back.

Yamazaki looks up at the camera and invokes the spirit of the Takeshi Samurais.  She declares tonight she will take one more step forward towards winning back the Women’s Title.  Why does she think that?

Shizuko Yamazaki: それは私の運命です

“It is my destiny.”

MAIN EVENT-#2 vs. #3 MATCH-WOMEN’S DIVISION: “The roughest, toughest, rootinest, shootinest cowgirl who ever crossed the Rio Grande” Yosemite Samantha vs. ‘The Shadow Warrior’ Shizuko Yamazaki

“Clock Strikes”- One OK Rock plays over the public address system.

‘The Shadow Warrior’ Shizuko Yamazaki appears from the back.  She’s dressed in full Japanese battle dress.  After posing on the stage, Yamazaki heads down to ringside.

Then…

The unmistakable sound of Lars Ulrich banging out the beat on the drums…

The stage turns red and the video screen shows a few tumbleweeds blowing by.

Yosemite Samantha bounds out from the back.

Sporting a big ten-gallon cowboy hat and a holster complete with gun, Yosemite Samantha gives the audience the ol’ stinkeye as she marches down the ramp towards ringside.

Ring announcer Heather Cooper is in the ring ready for the introductions.

-This should be a good ol’, hard-hitting battle between two women who both want another title shot.

Referee Bailey Jenkins calls for the bell and this match is under way.

Thunderbolt Smith: Yamazaki with the knee lift and that puts Yosemite Samantha down on the mat.

Thunderbolt Smith: ROLL UP BY YAMAZAKI!

Thunderbolt Smith: BULLDOG!

Rick Hall: Thunderbolt, Yosemite Samantha hit the mat hard face first.  She looks dazed and out of it.

Thunderbolt Smith: She whips Yosemite Samantha to the ropes…

When Samantha returns, Yamazaki puts a right hand on her right shoulder… she floats over and takes a side headlock with her left hand… BOOM!

Rick Hall: This could be shaping up for a big night for the Alabama Gang as a whole If Jenkins and Hendry can knock off The Stevens Dynasty and Bill Dickinson retains the Men’s title.

Thunderbolt Smith: We will find out then.  That’s going to do it for this week.  For ‘Long Haul’ Rick Hall, I am Thunderbolt Smith.  We’ll see you next Tuesday in Normal, Illinois.
