WINNER-#4 MEN’S DIVISION: #4 J.J. Bittinger vs. Kenichiro Yamamoto

Rick Hall’s preview:
-J.J. Bittinger suffered a slight injury in training this past week.
-Yamamoto is a graduate of the Ichiban Puroresu Nippon Dojo and came to America on an excursion to learn from the MVW vets.  He’s had a lot of success early on and looks to move up into the Men’s Division.
-Bittinger is the grizzled vet who’s been bouncing back and forth between the Men’s and the Men’s Heartland Divisions. He could use a win here tonight.
-If Bittinger wins, he remains in the Men’s Division and Yamamoto stays in the Men’s Heartland Division
-If Yamamoto wins, he is promoted to the Men’s Division as the #4 contender and Bittinger drops the Men’s Heartland Division as the #1 contender.

#2 vs. #3 WOMEN’S DIVISION: #2 Lisa Barbosa-Stevens (Jill Berg Enterprises) vs. #3 ‘The Shadow Warrior’ Shizuko Yamazaki

Hall’s preview:
-It has not been the best of times for Lisa Barbosa-Stevens.  After losing the Women’s Title to Shizuko Yamazaki in January and then getting passed by McGill, Barbosa-Stevens has languished at #2 in the rankings and as a result, has found herself in disfavor with Jill Berg Enterprises CEO Jill Berg.  She needs to win tonight.
-‘The Shadow Warrior’ Shizuko Yamazaki also lost her way for a bit after losing the title Tori McGill in June.  Yamazaki tumbled down to #3 in the rankings and looks to start climbing back up into title contention.  Tonight, Yamazaki has a chance to take a step forward.
-If Yamazaki wins, she moves up to #2 and Barbosa-Stevens falls to #3.
-If Barbosa-Stevens wins, she stays at #2 and Yamazaki stays at #3.

MAIN EVENT/NON-TITLE: Men’s Champion ‘Redneck’ Bill Dickinson vs. Bob Murray

Hall preview:
-‘Redneck’ Bill Dickinson’s final tune-up for his upcoming title defense against Ricky Stevens.

Hall’s Comments:
-Good match.  Yamamoto had a little problem with Bittinger- who carried a slight injury going into the match- once he took control of the match late.
-Bittinger had his chance when he tried to slap on the Bear Trap but Yamamoto blocked it and hit multiple arm drag takedowns to take some of the steam out of J.J.’s sails.
-Yamamoto goes up to the Men’s Division with the win.  Bittinger returns to the Men’s Heartland Division with the loss.

RAY McAVAY TALKS ABOUT THE UPCOMING ‘EVENING OF CHAMPIONS’ PAY-PER-VIEW SHOW
The owner of Missouri Valley Wrestling- Ray McAvay- comes out with his wife Stacie Perry-McAvay and joins Thunderbolt and Hall at the broadcast table.

Ray McAvay and Stacee Perry

The topic- McAvay’s announcement on Friday revealing the Evening of Champions card.  Thunderbolt and Hall explain that unlike other MVW pay-per-view shows that are booked according to the rankings, McAvay personally books Evening of Champions based on whom he feels is most deserving of a title shot based on the year he or she’s had.

After a little chit-chat, Thunderbolt, Hall, and McAvay talk about the matches.

MEN’S TITLE MATCH:
‘Redneck’ Bill Dickinson © vs. John O’Reilly

Ray McAvay’s Comments:
-Assuming Bill Dickinson defeats Ricky Stevens in Peoria next week, he will face the former MVW Men’s Champion John O’Reilly at Evening of Champions for the title.
-Why O’Reilly?  McAvay explains O’Reilly wrapped up a ten-month Men’s title reign in May when Adam Ellis defeated him in Normal, Illinois for the title.  No one else in the division has really had the same success O’Reilly had in 2022 and thus McAvay chose O’Reilly to be Dickinson’s opponent at Evening of Champions.

WOMEN’S TITLE MATCH:
Victoria McGill © vs. ‘The Shadow Warrior’ Shizuko Yamazaki
McAvay says this one was easy. Yamazaki dominated the Women’s title the first six months of 2022 before Victoria McGill rose up and won the title at the end of June.
-He gave Lisa Barbosa-Stevens plenty of consideration but in the end, McAvay felt he could not ignore what Yamazaki did in the first part of the year and feels The Shadow Warrior more than deserves a title shot at Evening of Champions.

MEN’S TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH:
The Stevens Dynasty © vs. The Dark Overlords of Wrestling

-McAvay admits this one was difficult.  The Kentucky Redneck Mafia received a lot of consideration but Ray decided that The Dark Overlords of Wrestling earned the title show.
-Why?  Triple R and ‘No Frills’ Chris Escondido had a very good five-month run as the Men’s Tag Team champions until May when the Stevens Dynasty came along and Bo and George Stevens won the belts at the house show in Normal, Illinois.
-McAvay explains to make this match he had to get the okay of Texas Championship Wrestling’s owner Charlie Blackwell to allow the D.O.W. to appear.  He further explains that the Dark Overlords left MVW in the summer and signed with Blackwell’s promotion.  Blackwell did give the okay and McAvay booked the match for Evening of Champions.

WOMEN’S TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH:
Jill Berg Enterprises © vs. The Missouri Valley Fight Club
-McAvay states this was the hardest one to decide. The Hanson Sisters had a solid four-month run as champions.  The Pinups also had their second Women’s Tag Team Title run as well.  But when push came to shove, McAvay says the Missouri Valley Fight Club deserved the title opportunity.
-Ray explains how the Missouri Valley Fight Club started the year as the champions until The Pinups put an end to their sixth title run in March.  From there, the MVFC was consistently the #1 or #2 contender for the title for the remainder of the year while the Hanson Sisters and Pinups quickly fell down the rankings after losing the title.
-He chose to reward the Missouri Valley Fight Club for their tenaciousness in fighting to stay in title contention when they could have dropped off as the other former champions did. That’s why McAvay gives the MVFC the nod.

MEN’S HEARTLAND TITLE:
Bracken Krueger © vs. #1 Contender
-McAvay says Krueger is the current champion and will have one more title defense before the Evening of Champions pay-per-view.  If he retains, Krueger will then take on the #1 contender who comes out of the December 2nd through 4th matches.

WOMEN’S HEARTLAND TITLE:
Daryn Thompson © vs. #1 Contender
-Same situation here.  Thompson is the current Women’s Heartland Champion and will also have one last title defense on November 29th.  If Thompson retains, she will meet the next #1 contender who comes out of the December 2nd to 4th matches.

And with that, McAvay and his wife wrap up the Evening of Champions preview and Thunderbolt sends it to our second commercial break of the night.

Once Barbosa-Stevens rolls into the ring, ring announcer Heather Cooper introduces both women.

Chop by Lisa.  A second chop follows that just STINGS Yamazaki.  Suplex by Barbosa-Stevens to a cover… 1… 2- Yamazaki kicks out strong. Barbosa-Stevens Irish Whips Yamazaki to the ropes and follows with a knee strike.  She does it again and drives the knee into Yamazaki’s stomach.  DDT by Lisa and cover… 1… 2… Yamazaki again kicks out.  Barbosa-Stevens with an enziguri. Yamazaki hooks the legs… 1… 2… THREE!

WINNER: ‘The Shadow Warrior’ Shizuko Yamazaki

The Shadow Warrior does it!  Yamazaki wins and moves up to #2 in the rankings.  Barbosa-Stevens falls to #3.

Hall’s Comments:
-Lisa Barbosa-Stevens dominated early but couldn’t put Shizuko Yamazaki away.
-Yamazaki came on strong and defeated Barbosa-Stevens in a very competitive and hard-hitting match to move up to #2 in the rankings.  Yamazaki will now face Yosemite Samantha next Tuesday in a #1 contender’s match.

Barbosa-Stevens sits up.  She sees that Jill Berg and the rest of JBE have long since left ringside leaving her all by herself in the ring.

Lisa slams her hand on the mat three times.

CARMONDY CUP SEMI-FINALS PREVIEW
Back from break, Thunderbolt and Hall next preview this Friday’s Carmondy Cup Semi-Finals.

The Carmondy Cup is a ‘tournament’ patterned after English Football’s (Soccer) FA Cup.  The tournament consists of randomly drawn rounds and the entrants are not seeded.  But like the FA Cup, a system of byes based on the level (Bergman’s Barn Students, Non-Division, Heartland, Men’s/Women’s Divisions) ensures higher ranked wrestlers will enter in later rounds.

The final will be held on December 10th at the Del 5ive Event Center in Emporium, KS.  The winners of all four divisions will earn title shots at MVW’s St. Louis Supershow in January.

MEN’S SINGLES
‘Rock Star’ Robbie Marrs vs. ‘Redneck’ Bill Dickinson
Hall’s Preview:
-‘Rock Star’ Robbie Marrs is the Cinderella story of the Carmondy Cup.
-‘Redneck’ Bill Dickinson is the current Men’s Champion.

Captain Jack vs. John O’Reilly
Hall’s Preview:
-O’Reilly and Captain Jack are ranked #2 and #3 in the Men’s Division.
-John O’Reilly has rebounded from a lull to move back up into title contention.  He will face Bill Dickinson or Ricky Stevens for the Men’s Title at Evening of Champions.
-Captain Jack has had a couple of cracks at winning the Men’s Title but has not been able to break through.

WOMEN’S SINGLES

Hall’s Preview:
-Women’s Champion Tori McGill and Shizuko Yamazaki will also face each other at Evening of Champions.

-Will McGill put forth a full effort in this match against Yamazaki?  And vice versa?
-Can Yamazaki lay down a marker against the Women’s Champion? It will be interesting to see what the strategy is for this one.

Lisa Barbosa-Stevens vs. Daryn Thompson
Hall’s Preview:
-Lisa Barbosa-Stevens suffered a tough loss to Yamazaki this week and has dropped to #3 in the Women’s contender’s rankings.
-Daryn Thompson has risen quickly through the Women’s Heartland rankings and defeated ‘Extreme Pizza Delivery Girl’ Tessa Martin for the title.  A win puts her in a position to earn a Women’s Title shot against Victoria McGill at the St. Louis Supershow.
-Can Lisa right the ship and bounce back? Or will Thompson continue her dominance?

MEN’S TAG TEAM
The Kardoucheian Empire (Koley and Kourtney) vs. Kentucky Redneck Mafia (Cletus T. Johnson and Enos T. Johnson)
-Hollywood Reality Stars The Kardoucheian Empire has been on a hot run of late rising to the #1 contender’s ranking and earning a title shot against The Stevens Dynasty.
-Former Men’s Tag Team champions The Kentucky Redneck Mafia have struggled since losing the title to the Dark Overlords of Wrestling last year, languishing at the #3 contenders in the Men’s Tag Team Division right now.
-Will the Kardoucheians keep their hot streak going?
-Can the Kentucky Redneck Mafia get their act together and make the finals for a title shot at the St. Louis Supershow?

Hall’s Preview:

-Jill Berg Enterprises have held the title since August.

-Will Jill Berg Enterprises use this match as a tune-up for their upcoming match at Evening of Champions against the Missouri Valley Fight Club- a team they may have to face again at the St. Louis Supershow in January?

Thunderbolt wraps it up and thanks Hall.  Then it’s time for the final commercial break of the night.
