WINNER-#4 MEN’S DIVISION: #4 J.J. Bittinger vs. Kenichiro Yamamoto

Rick Hall’s preview:
-J.J. Bittinger suffered a slight injury in training this past week.
-Yamamoto is a graduate of the Ichiban Puroresu Nippon Dojo and came to America on an excursion to learn from the MVW vets.  He’s had a lot of success early on and looks to move up into the Men’s Division.
-Bittinger is the grizzled vet who’s been bouncing back and forth between the Men’s and the Men’s Heartland Divisions. He could use a win here tonight.
-If Bittinger wins, he remains in the Men’s Division and Yamamoto stays in the Men’s Heartland Division
-If Yamamoto wins, he is promoted to the Men’s Division as the #4 contender and Bittinger drops the Men’s Heartland Division as the #1 contender.

#2 vs. #3 WOMEN’S DIVISION: #2 Lisa Barbosa-Stevens (Jill Berg Enterprises) vs. #3 ‘The Shadow Warrior’ Shizuko Yamazaki

Hall’s preview:
-It has not been the best of times for Lisa Barbosa-Stevens.  After losing the Women’s Title to Shizuko Yamazaki in January and then getting passed by McGill, Barbosa-Stevens has languished at #2 in the rankings and as a result, has found herself in disfavor with Jill Berg Enterprises CEO Jill Berg.  She needs to win tonight.
-‘The Shadow Warrior’ Shizuko Yamazaki also lost her way for a bit after losing the title Tori McGill in June.  Yamazaki tumbled down to #3 in the rankings and looks to start climbing back up into title contention.  Tonight, Yamazaki has a chance to take a step forward.
-If Yamazaki wins, she moves up to #2 and Barbosa-Stevens falls to #3.
-If Barbosa-Stevens wins, she stays at #2 and Yamazaki stays at #3.

WINNER: Kenichiro Yamamoto

Yamamoto defeats J.J. Bittinger and he is promoted up to the Men’s Division.  With the loss, Bittinger is relegated to the Men’s Heartland Division.

Hall’s Comments:
-Good match.  Yamamoto had a little problem with Bittinger- who carried a slight injury going into the match- once he took control of the match late.
-Bittinger had his chance when he tried to slap on the Bear Trap but Yamamoto blocked it and hit multiple arm drag takedowns to take some of the steam out of J.J.’s sails.
-Yamamoto goes up to the Men’s Division with the win.  Bittinger returns to the Men’s Heartland Division with the loss.

The owner of Missouri Valley Wrestling- Ray McAvay- comes out with his wife Stacie Perry-McAvay and joins Thunderbolt and Hall at the broadcast table.

Ray McAvay and Stacee Perry

The topic- McAvay’s announcement on Friday revealing the Evening of Champions card.  Thunderbolt and Hall explain that unlike other MVW pay-per-view shows that are booked according to the rankings, McAvay personally books Evening of Champions based on whom he feels is most deserving of a title shot based on the year he or she’s had.

After a little chit-chat, Thunderbolt, Hall, and McAvay talk about the matches.

‘Redneck’ Bill Dickinson © vs. John O’Reilly

Ray McAvay’s Comments:
-Assuming Bill Dickinson defeats Ricky Stevens in Peoria next week, he will face the former MVW Men’s Champion John O’Reilly at Evening of Champions for the title.
-Why O’Reilly?  McAvay explains O’Reilly wrapped up a ten-month Men’s title reign in May when Adam Ellis defeated him in Normal, Illinois for the title.  No one else in the division has really had the same success O’Reilly had in 2022 and thus McAvay chose O’Reilly to be Dickinson’s opponent at Evening of Champions.

Victoria McGill © vs. ‘The Shadow Warrior’ Shizuko Yamazaki
McAvay says this one was easy. Yamazaki dominated the Women’s title the first six months of 2022 before Victoria McGill rose up and won the title at the end of June.
-He gave Lisa Barbosa-Stevens plenty of consideration but in the end, McAvay felt he could not ignore what Yamazaki did in the first part of the year and feels The Shadow Warrior more than deserves a title shot at Evening of Champions.

The Stevens Dynasty © vs. The Dark Overlords of Wrestling

-McAvay admits this one was difficult.  The Kentucky Redneck Mafia received a lot of consideration but Ray decided that The Dark Overlords of Wrestling earned the title show.
-Why?  Triple R and ‘No Frills’ Chris Escondido had a very good five-month run as the Men’s Tag Team champions until May when the Stevens Dynasty came along and Bo and George Stevens won the belts at the house show in Normal, Illinois.
-McAvay explains to make this match he had to get the okay of Texas Championship Wrestling’s owner Charlie Blackwell to allow the D.O.W. to appear.  He further explains that the Dark Overlords left MVW in the summer and signed with Blackwell’s promotion.  Blackwell did give the okay and McAvay booked the match for Evening of Champions.

Jill Berg Enterprises © vs. The Missouri Valley Fight Club
-McAvay states this was the hardest one to decide. The Hanson Sisters had a solid four-month run as champions.  The Pinups also had their second Women’s Tag Team Title run as well.  But when push came to shove, McAvay says the Missouri Valley Fight Club deserved the title opportunity.
-Ray explains how the Missouri Valley Fight Club started the year as the champions until The Pinups put an end to their sixth title run in March.  From there, the MVFC was consistently the #1 or #2 contender for the title for the remainder of the year while the Hanson Sisters and Pinups quickly fell down the rankings after losing the title.
-He chose to reward the Missouri Valley Fight Club for their tenaciousness in fighting to stay in title contention when they could have dropped off as the other former champions did. That’s why McAvay gives the MVFC the nod.

Bracken Krueger © vs. #1 Contender
-McAvay says Krueger is the current champion and will have one more title defense before the Evening of Champions pay-per-view.  If he retains, Krueger will then take on the #1 contender who comes out of the December 2nd through 4th matches.

Daryn Thompson © vs. #1 Contender
-Same situation here.  Thompson is the current Women’s Heartland Champion and will also have one last title defense on November 29th.  If Thompson retains, she will meet the next #1 contender who comes out of the December 2nd to 4th matches.

And with that, McAvay and his wife wrap up the Evening of Champions preview and Thunderbolt sends it to our second commercial break of the night.

SHOOT Project

The Shadow Warrior, Shizuko Yamazaki is in her dressing room with the lights dimmed down.

Yamazaki looks up at the camera and says she got away from what led her to her destiny- the Women’s Title.  She realizes that she needs to get back to basics.

An older gentleman steps into the shot.

Shizuko Yamazaki: 私の父

“My father.”

Her father- a former wrestler of himself and leader of the Takeshi Samurais back in the day- bows his head.

Once again, Yamazaki invokes the spirit of the Takeshi Samurais. She declares that she will defeat Lisa Barbosa-Stevens tonight.  Why?

Shizuko Yamazaki: それは私の運命です

“It is my destiny.”

Kellie Burkowski catches up with Lisa as she’s headed toward the gorilla position.

She asks Barbosa-Stevens about her recent issues with Jill Berg Enterprises.

Barbosa-Stevens Comments:
-Lisa doesn’t care anymore what Jill Berg or JBE thinks.  They’ve left her hanging for the past few weeks and she’s fed up with the whole thing.
-Barbosa-Stevens tells Kellie she’s going out and defeating Yamazaki- not for Jill Berg Enterprises- but for herself.

Jill Berg’s voice: “WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?”

The CEO of Jill Berg Enterprises marches up followed by the Women’s Tag Team Champions Sheline Carrigan and Prisoner #034291 and former Women’s Heartland Champion ‘Extreme Pizza Delivery Girl’ Tessa Martin.

Jill gets in Kellie’s face and informs her that she should know by now that any and ALL interviews involving Jill Berg Enterprises employees go through her- Jill Berg.

Jill then chastises Barbosa-Stevens for giving an ‘unauthorized’ interview without her permission.

Berg then directs JBE to head toward the gorilla position and exits.

Barbosa-Stevens just shakes her head as she walks off camera.

And with that, it’s time for match #2.

MATCH #2-#2 vs. #3 WOMEN’S DIVISION: #2 Lisa Barbosa-Stevens (Jill Berg Enterprises) vs. #3 ‘The Shadow Warrior’ Shizuko Yamazaki

Berg is escorted down the ramp to the ring by her security detail and Women’s Heartland Champion ‘Extreme Pizza Delivery Girl’ Tessa Martin, and Women’s Tag Team Champions Sheline Carrigan and Prisoner #034291.

They wait in the ring as “What Have You Done Now?” by Within Temptation comes on next and that brings out Lisa Barbosa-Stevens.  She walks out on stage.

Lisa poses on stage for a couple of seconds and then takes a brisk walk down the ramp to join Tess and Jill Berg in the ring.

Once Barbosa-Stevens rolls into the ring, ring announcer Heather Cooper introduces both women.

Yamazaki hip-tosses her a second time.  Armbar.  Lisa fights back to her feet- Yamazaki takes her back down but misses a leg drop after taking too much time. Chop by Lisa.  A second chop follows that just STINGS Yamazaki.  Suplex by Barbosa-Stevens to a cover… 1… 2- Yamazaki kicks out strong. Barbosa-Stevens Irish Whips Yamazaki to the ropes and follows with a knee strike.  She does it again and drives the knee into Yamazaki’s stomach.  DDT by Lisa and cover… 1… 2… Yamazaki again kicks out.  Barbosa-Stevens with an enziguri. Hesitation dropkick sends Yamazaki to the mat.  Lisa rolls her up… 1… 2… NO!  Again, Yamazaki beats the three count.

Quick cut to Jill Berg at ringside.  She actually seems pleased… so far.

Lisa whips Yamazaki into the corner.  Here she comes with a corner elbow- YAMAZAKI MOVES.  Shizuko whips Barbosa-Stevens to the ropes- BACKDROP.  Arm drag to Lisa.  Yamazaki follows with 3 more and locks in an armbar of her own for good measure.   Lisa tries to get to the ropes.  Yamazaki pulls her to the center of the ring- Switchblade kicks bend Barbosa-Stevens over.  DOUBLE KNEE FACEBUSTER BY YAMAZAKI.  Lisa down.  Cover… 1… 2… Barbosa-Stevens gets a shoulder up.  Yamazaki to the top rope- MISSILE DROPKICK!  Roll up… ONE…TWO…NO! Barbosa-Stevens AGAIN gets her shoulder up.  Yamazaki runs the ropes- Hip Attack sends Barbosa-Stevens through the ropes to the floor.  The crowd roars.

Quick cut to Jill Berg at ringside.  Jill’s not too pleased with what’s gone down in the past few minutes.

Yamazaki pulls Lisa up…Vertical Suplex on the wayyyyy… BOOM. Yamazaki covers again…1…2… NO!  Barbosa-Stevens grabs the bottom rope at the last second. Yamazaki pulls on both of Lisa’s legs- Barbosa-Stevens goes airborne as she hangs on the ropes… she lets go and lands hard on her back again.  Yamazaki covers… 1… 2… NO!  Barbosa-Stevens kicks out yet again.  Yamazaki is in control.  She pulls Lisa up and whips her into the ropes- BACK BODY DROP.  Yamazaki goes for a cover but Lisa gets up to her knees.  SHOOT KICKS BY YAMAZAKI… one… two… three… four… five… Lisa toppled over.  Yamazaki covers… 1… 2… NO!  SHOULDER UP!  Yamazaki waits… she pounces- FLOATOVER DDT!  That shook the ring. Yamazaki hooks the legs… 1… 2… THREE!

WINNER: ‘The Shadow Warrior’ Shizuko Yamazaki

The Shadow Warrior does it!  Yamazaki wins and moves up to #2 in the rankings.  Barbosa-Stevens falls to #3.

Hall’s Comments:
-Lisa Barbosa-Stevens dominated early but couldn’t put Shizuko Yamazaki away.
-Yamazaki came on strong and defeated Barbosa-Stevens in a very competitive and hard-hitting match to move up to #2 in the rankings.  Yamazaki will now face Yosemite Samantha next Tuesday in a #1 contender’s match.

Barbosa-Stevens sits up.  She sees that Jill Berg and the rest of JBE have long since left ringside leaving her all by herself in the ring.

Lisa slams her hand on the mat three times.

Thunderbolt sends it to a commercial break.

The final will be held on December 10th at the Del 5ive Event Center in Emporium, KS.  The winners of all four divisions will earn title shots at MVW’s St. Louis Supershow in January.

-Lisa Barbosa-Stevens suffered a tough loss to Yamazaki this week and has dropped to #3 in the Women’s contender’s rankings.

…Lani Harlot runs down the aisle and gets into the ring!

She drops Eva from behind to the canvas and quickly locks on the White Trash Compactor!   Eva Perrin has been left down on the canvas.

Rick Hall: Perrin knocked Harlot out of action after viciously attacking her several weeks back.  Harlot got a measure of payback before MVW Security swarmed the ring and pulled her away.

Thunderbolt then announces that MVW Owner Ray McAvay has added the following match to Evening of Champions:

Eva Perrin vs. ‘The Queen of the Trailer Park’ Lani Harlot

And with that, it’s main event time.
