On the eve of another busy house show weekend as Missouri Valley Wrestling heads to Kansas for five big shows, Kellie Burkowski caught up with MVW owner Ray McAvay and here’s some of what he had to say.
This Weekend
Big weekend all around. Lindsay Troy protegees Bracken Krueger and Daryn Thompson begin their run in the Men’s and Women’s Heartland Divisions. Two newcomers Kenichiro Yamamoto and Absolute Zero from sVo try to rise up out of the Non-Division to get to the Heartland Division. Yosemite Samantha tries to follow up an impressive performance against Victoria McGill Tuesday night and move up the Women’s Division rankings. LATX tries for the third time to get out of the Non-Division into the Women’s Tag Team Division. Lots of stuff going on this weekend.
sVo-MVW Talent Exchange
Love Jon Page. Love sVo. We sent over the Southern Boys (‘Dastardly’ Dave Miller and ‘Dangerous’ Dan Williams). MVW still holds their contract even though they are on loan to Texas Championship Wrestling. Dave and Dan jumped at the chance to go to sVo. Dan Williams is 45 years old. He’s never had a shot at moving up to the big time. Dave was excited about going to battle against wrestlers in sVo so we were more than happy to send them. The Southern Boys have won a couple matches already and they are doing well.
In return, we got Absolute Zero- a wrestler who’s also in his mid-forties- and The Shamrocks in the tag division. So, yeah, we’re pleased with the arrangement and hope it continues.
‘Rock Star’ Robbie Marrs Appears on WSOW
I think Robbie’s done well. There are just a lot of really good wrestlers involved in the WSOW and it was always going to be a hard road to make the first cut, much less be in contention. Robbie’s a good guy. It’s a pleasure to have him and his wife ‘Queen Cool’ Leah Iris in MVW and I hope he keeps at it. Robbie’s a latecomer to pro wrestling and he’s still learning.
Cancer Jiles ‘No Merch Stand’ Comment About MVW
*rolling eyes* Jiles wasn’t in the building long enough to see the merchandise stands. The Egg Bandits flitted in and out as quick as they could. Conversely, The Highwaymen (Joe Bergman, Clay Byrd, Steve Harrison, and Steve Solex) spent time before and after the show interacting with our fans and spending time at the MANY merch tables that are set up at our house shows.
Idiot.
Madison Carter/Jace Parker Davidson Comments About MVW
If you look up ‘insufferable douchebag’ in the dictionary, you’d see a picture of Jace Parker Davidson. If Jace actually showed up at an MVW show, he would find wrestlers, young, mid-career, and late-career who are working their asses off to earn that shot at the big time. We’ve produced some good wrestlers who made the move up… Halitosis/Joe Bergman, Adam Ellis, and ‘Redneck’ Bill Dickinson had his big moment last year wrestling at HOW’s ICONIC and challenging John Sektor for the LSD title.
That being said, personally, I’m glad JPD doesn’t accompany Madison because she needs time to develop in the ring without Jace’s needy, selfish, self-centered narcissist attitude and his incessant desire to suck up on the oxygen in the room and make everything about him. Madison’s getting precious time in the ring at MVW to develop as a wrestler without the pressure of having to learn on the fly on a big stage like HOW. I know she’s in 5BW too and doing well there so I think she’s got potential if she keeps with it.
Madison’s Outside Pursuits
I’m married to an adult entertainer so I have no room to talk. All I care about is when Madison wrestles for MVW she works hard and puts everything she has into becoming a better wrestler.
Carmondy Cup
It’s really going to get interesting next weekend when wrestlers from the Heartland Division get involved. Matches I am looking forward to watching:
-#4 Ranked in the Women’s Division Yosemite Samantha vs. Women’s Heartland Champion ‘Extreme Pizza Delivery Girl’ Tessa Martin
-Current #1 contender in the Women’s Heartland Division ‘Precious’ Patty McBride vs. #5/Women’s Heartland Division Daryn Thompson
-Bracken Krueger vs. Men’s Heartland Champion ‘The Demi-God of HOW’ Scott Stevens
-Surf Express Bro (Bradlee Nelson and Bowie Abrams) vs. The Shamrocks (Tom Flynn/Sean O’Grady)
Next weekend will be very interesting to see who survives and moves on.
Looking Forward to Night of Champions
As you know, unlike most of our pay-per-views where the rankings book the matches, Night of Champions is a pay-per-view show that I personally book to reward wrestlers who’ve had the best year with a title shot. Once we get into November, I’ll have to get to work on who will be challenging our champions at the PPV.
